Responsibilities:

1. Transport Operations Management:
   • Plan, organize, and manage the day-to-day transportation activities of the company.
   • Coordinate the allocation of vehicles and drivers to meet project requirements and customer demands.
2. Fleet Management:
   • Oversee the company’s vehicle fleet, ensuring all vehicles are well-maintained, roadworthy, and compliant with legal and safety standards.
   • Schedule regular maintenance and inspections for vehicles to ensure their optimal performance.
3. Compliance and Regulations:
   • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and industry standards.
   • Keep abreast of changes in transportation regulations and implement necessary adjustments to company procedures.
4. Health and Safety:
   • Prioritize and maintain a strong health and safety culture within the transport department.
   • Implement safety training programs for drivers and transportation staff.
5. Performance Monitoring:
   • Develop and implement KPIs to measure and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of transportation operations.
   • Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
6. Budget Management:
   • Assist in developing and managing the transport department’s budget.
   • Monitor expenditures to ensure financial targets are met.
7. Supplier Management:
   • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors to secure additional transport resources when required.
   • Negotiate favorable terms and agreements with transport service providers.
8. Reporting and Communication:
   • Prepare regular reports on transportation activities and performance for management review.
   • Communicate effectively with project managers, stakeholders, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of transportation logistics.

Requirements:

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant certifications and qualifications in transportation management are advantageous.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation management, preferably in the construction or related industry.
• Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of transport regulations, fleet management, and logistics operations.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities to motivate and guide transportation staff effectively.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills to address transportation challenges and optimize operations.
• Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
• Driving License: A valid UK driving license is required.
