Job Description
Aviagen Ltd, a leading poultry breeding company, is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Poultry Farm Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily operations of our poultry farm, ensuring the well-being and optimal conditions for the birds. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities:
- Provide care and attention to the poultry, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and growth.
- Maintain clean and hygienic poultry houses by regularly cleaning and sanitizing them to prevent the spread of diseases.
- Collect eggs and record production data accurately.
- Assist in the implementation of vaccination programs and follow biosecurity protocols to ensure flock health.
- Monitor and adjust environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation to create optimal conditions for the birds.
- Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery, reporting any malfunctions or issues promptly.
- Conduct general maintenance tasks on the farm, including repairing fences, gates, and equipment.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Work collaboratively with the farm team to achieve production targets and maintain farm efficiency.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and advancements in poultry farming.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working on a poultry farm or with livestock is preferred but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of poultry husbandry practices, including feeding, disease prevention, and biosecurity.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and the ability to observe and identify signs of illness or distress in the birds.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license may be beneficial, depending on the farm’s location and requirements.
