Job Summary:

Aviagen Ltd, a leading poultry breeding company, is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a General Farm Worker. As a General Farm Worker, you will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of our poultry farm, ensuring the health and welfare of the birds and maintaining a clean and organized working environment. This is a physically demanding role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the care and management of poultry, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and well-being.
2. Perform routine tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing poultry houses, equipment, and facilities to maintain a high level of biosecurity.
3. Collect eggs, record production data, and handle hatchery operations as required.
4. Assist in the implementation of flock vaccination programs and follow biosecurity protocols to prevent the spread of diseases.
5. Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature, ventilation, and lighting, and make adjustments as necessary.
6. Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition.
7. Assist in the maintenance of farm infrastructure, such as fences, gates, and water systems.
8. Follow health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
9. Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient farm operations and meet production targets.
10. Attend training programs and stay up-to-date with industry best practices and advancements.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience in a similar role or working with livestock, preferably poultry, is advantageous but not mandatory.
2. Basic knowledge of animal welfare practices and biosecurity protocols.
3. Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
4. Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
5. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
6. Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
7. Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays, as required.
8. A valid driver’s license may be preferred, depending on the farm’s location and requirements.
