Job Summary:

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations by ensuring cleanliness, organization, and efficiency. Your primary responsibilities will include washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas, and assisting the kitchen team as needed. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities:

• Wash dishes, cutlery, and kitchen utensils using appropriate cleaning methods and ensure they are properly stored.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, such as grills, ovens, and prep stations, following health and safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation areas, including countertops, sinks, and floors.
• Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately, ensuring compliance with waste management regulations.
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling and chopping ingredients, under the guidance of the kitchen team.
• Receive deliveries and assist in the organization and storage of food supplies and ingredients.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of food orders.
• Follow health and safety guidelines and adhere to food hygiene standards to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages or low stock items.
• Support the kitchen team during busy periods, taking on additional tasks as required.
• Uphold the values and standards of PizzaExpress Restaurants Ltd, promoting a positive and professional work environment.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar role is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is desirable.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects when necessary.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work well in a team.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
