Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of individuals’ housing needs and eligibility for housing assistance programs.
- Provide advice and guidance to clients on their housing options, including social housing, private rentals, and alternative housing solutions.
- Collaborate with local authorities and housing providers to identify and secure suitable housing options for clients.
- Assist clients in completing housing applications, supporting them throughout the application process.
- Develop and maintain relationships with landlords and private rental agencies to expand the availability of housing options.
- Liaise with relevant agencies and organizations to access additional support services, such as financial assistance and social support programs.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, housing applications, and referrals.
- Stay informed about current housing policies, regulations, and local housing market trends.
- Advocate for clients’ housing needs and rights, ensuring fair treatment and equal access to housing opportunities.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, housing management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in housing solutions, homelessness prevention, or a similar role.
- Sound knowledge of housing policies, legislation, and programs in the UK.
- Familiarity with local authority housing allocation systems and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse clients and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to empathize with individuals experiencing housing challenges.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and relevant software applications.
- Well-organized with excellent time management skills.
