Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Chargehand Cleaner at Carrongrange School. The Chargehand Cleaner will be responsible for overseeing the cleaning operations and managing a team of cleaners to ensure that the school premises are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating a safe and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities:

Cleaning Operations Management:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of cleaners, assigning tasks and ensuring their completion according to established schedules and quality standards.
- Oversee the cleaning of classrooms, offices, corridors, restrooms, and common areas, ensuring thorough cleaning, sanitization, and maintenance of a hygienic environment.
- Conduct regular inspections to monitor the quality of cleaning and address any deficiencies or areas requiring improvement.
- Train and provide guidance to cleaners on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and the use of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Maintain records of cleaning schedules, tasks performed, and inventory of cleaning materials.

Cleaning Equipment and Supplies:
- Monitor and ensure the availability of cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies, including cleaning agents, disinfectants, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate with the Facilities Manager to procure necessary cleaning supplies and equipment within budgetary constraints.
- Inspect and maintain cleaning equipment, reporting any defects or repairs needed.
- Ensure proper storage and safe handling of cleaning agents and hazardous materials.

Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and hazardous waste.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices among the cleaning team, including the use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures.
- Participate in training sessions and provide guidance to cleaners on health and safety practices.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain effective communication with school staff, reporting any facility-related concerns or issues promptly.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and administration, to address cleaning needs for events, repairs, or special projects.
- Respond to inquiries or requests from staff, students, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in the coordination of cleaning services during school closures or vacation periods.

- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure consistent and high-quality cleaning standards.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and cleaning techniques, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct periodic evaluations and solicit feedback from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in the cleaning industry.
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, techniques, and equipment.
