Job Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled and experienced Data Engineers to join our team in the United Kingdom. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining data infrastructure and systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, integrity, and security, and enable efficient data processing and analysis.
Required Experience & Skill
- a solid working grasp of the functional and OO paradigms in Python.
- working familiarity with the DBT command-line utility.
- knowledge of design-for-testing methodology and BDD/TDD for software development.
- Having knowledge of at least one cloud computing platform (such as AWS, GCP, or Azure), ideally GCP.
- knowledge of CI/CD procedures, preferably using GitHub Actions, and of code versioning systems (such as git).
- familiarity with relational databases, column stores, data modeling, and SQL.
- Experience identifying and communicating solutions in a clear, practical manner to stakeholders who are both technical and non-technical.
- a self-starter who can work well in a fast-paced team environment and has a problem-solving mindset.
Desirable:
- working understanding of Bash and Terraform.
- experience using serverless technologies like AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions, as well as contemporary deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- knowledge of workflow management and data pipeline systems like Airflow, Luigi, etc.
- knowledge of data serialization formats including Parquet, JSON, YAML, Protobuf, CSV, and JSON.
- working knowledge of project management tools like JIRA/Trello in an agile context.
- working knowledge of Kafka and other streaming data systems.
- knowledge of reporting technologies, such as Tableau, Power BI, and Google Data Studio.
- Knowledge of the GDPR and its potential effects on a data platform
Role prerequisites:
- building the tools and services necessary to support important business activities.
- Work with business stakeholders and other data engineers to collect, analyze, and transform requirements into practical solutions.
- setting a high standard for code that has been well tested, is easy to read, and is fast enough to handle lots of requests.
