Role Overview:
As a Quantity Surveyor at Mace UK, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of construction projects. You will be responsible for cost estimation, procurement, and contract administration to ensure the successful delivery of projects within budget. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in quantity surveying, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on detailed analysis and industry benchmarks.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Procurement and Contract Management:
- Source and evaluate subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive bids for project materials and services.
- Administer contracts and variations, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Cost Control and Value Engineering:
- Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to align with budgetary constraints.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
- Change Management:
- Assess and manage changes to project scope, identifying potential cost implications and communicating with stakeholders.
- Risk Analysis and Mitigation:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with project teams to proactively address risks and avoid cost overruns.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project costs, contracts, and financial documentation.
- Provide regular reports on cost performance to project stakeholders and management.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with a focus on managing project costs and contracts.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise effectively with project teams and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and industry regulations.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach to work, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
- Professional memberships or qualifications from relevant industry bodies (e.g., RICS) are advantageous.
- Flexibility to travel to various project sites across the UK as required.
