Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and serving of food, following established recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Set up and maintain serving areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and adequately stocked with food, beverages, and utensils.
- Serve meals to residents in a prompt and courteous manner, catering to their individual dietary requirements and preferences.
- Clear tables and clean dining areas, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and plating.
- Ensure the safe handling and storage of food, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Operate kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and dishwashers, following proper procedures.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, checking quantities and quality as required.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and waste disposal.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a care home or hospitality environment.
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to work well within a team, demonstrating good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks, such as lifting and carrying trays.
- Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- A positive and proactive attitude towards work, with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for record-keeping purposes.
