Job Summary:

As a Personal Assistant (PA) at Penderels Trust, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with disabilities or care needs, enabling them to live independently and enhance their quality of life. You will work closely with individuals and their families, providing personalized support tailored to their specific requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Personal Support: Provide one-to-one support to individuals with disabilities or care needs, assisting with personal care, mobility, medication management, and daily living activities as required.
  2. Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and companionship to individuals, promoting their well-being and independence while respecting their dignity and confidentiality.
  3. Practical Assistance: Assist with household tasks, including meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, and managing finances, to help individuals maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
  4. Appointment Coordination: Arrange and accompany individuals to medical appointments, social activities, and other engagements, ensuring they have access to necessary services and opportunities for social interaction.
  5. Communication and Advocacy: Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, and relevant professionals to ensure coordinated care and support. Advocate on behalf of individuals to promote their rights, preferences, and needs.
  6. Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of support provided, including daily activities, observations, and any significant incidents or changes in individuals’ health or well-being.
  7. Health and Safety: Follow health and safety guidelines, including infection control practices, to ensure a safe environment for both individuals and yourself.
  8. Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities offered by Penderels Trust to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting individuals with disabilities or care needs.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members and professionals involved in individuals’ care to ensure a holistic approach and continuity of support.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Compassion and a genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities or care needs.
  • Previous experience in a similar care or support role is preferred.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with individuals and their families.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to different situations and individual needs.

  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices and infection control.
  • Reliable and dependable, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
