Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Medication Management: Support clients with the administration of prescribed medications, adhering to the appropriate guidelines and protocols.
- Domestic Support: Help with light household duties such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, and shopping, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for clients.
- Companionship: Engage clients in meaningful activities and conversations, fostering a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in clients’ physical or mental well-being to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional.
- Mobility Assistance: Assist clients with mobility challenges, using equipment and aids as necessary, to help them move around safely.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, incidents, and observations as per organizational guidelines.
- Promote Independence: Encourage clients to develop and maintain their skills and abilities, promoting self-reliance whenever possible.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, their families, colleagues, and other professionals involved in their care.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a similar role or a genuine interest in caring for others.
- Empathetic, patient, and understanding approach towards clients with different needs and backgrounds.
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Flexibility to work on a rota basis, including weekends and evenings.
- Willingness to undergo necessary training and development.
Desirable:
- NVQ/QCF qualifications in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards in social care.
