Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of the farm’s operations, including crop production, livestock management, and equipment maintenance.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve farm objectives and targets.
- Monitor and optimize farm productivity, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to industry best practices.
- Oversee crop planting, cultivation, and harvest activities, ensuring high-quality yields.
- Manage livestock health, breeding programs, and herd/flock management to ensure optimal animal welfare and productivity.
- Plan and manage the farm’s budget, including expenses, investments, and revenue forecasting.
- Procure necessary supplies, equipment, and services for the farm’s operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain accurate records of farm activities.
- Supervise and lead farm staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster positive relationships with suppliers, buyers, and industry stakeholders.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and agricultural research to implement best practices.
- Handle any emergencies or unexpected situations that may arise on the farm.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Farm Manager or in a similar agricultural management role.
- In-depth knowledge of crop production, livestock management, and farm operations.
- Strong business acumen and ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills to oversee farm activities and personnel.
- Proficiency in farm management software and computer literacy.
- Sound understanding of health and safety regulations in an agricultural setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders and manage a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic farming environment.
- Degree or relevant qualification in agriculture, farming, or a related field (desirable).
- Valid driver’s license.
