Software Developer

We’re seeking a talented Software Developer to join our dynamic IT and Innovation team. This role is ideal for a creative problem-solver passionate about writing clean, efficient code and collaborating with researchers, educators, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & System Optimization

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications tailored to academic and research needs.
  • Collaborate with researchers to build custom tools (e.g., data visualization platforms, simulation software).
  • Optimize legacy systems for performance and security.

Collaboration & Innovation

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (data scientists, engineers, faculty) to translate research goals into technical solutions.
  • Contribute to open-source projects aligned with the university’s mission (e.g., climate change, AI ethics).

Support & Training

  • Provide technical guidance to non-technical staff and students.
  • Lead workshops on best practices in coding, DevOps, and agile methodologies.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure all software adheres to GDPR, accessibility standards, and university policies.
  • Conduct regular code reviews and vulnerability assessments.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
    • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills for working with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to debug complex systems and propose innovative solutions.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) or data analysis tools (Pandas, R).
