Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Primary Care Network, collaborating with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct patient consultations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and formulation of differential diagnoses.
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of a GP, adhering to established clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Evaluate and interpret clinical information, including test results, to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Provide patient education and counseling on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans, ensuring a holistic and patient-centered approach.
  • Liaise with specialists, hospitals, and community services to facilitate referrals and coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting clinical assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Stay updated with clinical developments, research, and best practices in primary care, participating in continuous professional development activities.
  • Comply with professional and ethical standards, including safeguarding protocols and patient confidentiality.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and participate in audits to enhance the delivery of primary care services.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Associate training program and registration with the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR) or the Faculty of Physician Associates (FPA).
  • Previous experience as a Physician Associate in primary care or a relevant healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical conditions, diagnoses, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to work autonomously within established guidelines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of patient care.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and a holistic approach to primary healthcare.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of primary care policies, procedures, and relevant clinical guidelines.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other healthcare software.
