Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Booking: Schedule and book patients for surgical procedures based on surgeon availability and operating theatre capacity.
- Communication: Communicate with patients to confirm surgery dates, provide pre-operative instructions, and answer any questions or concerns.
- Operating Theatre Coordination: Collaborate with operating theatre staff, surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses to coordinate surgical schedules.
- Patient Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including surgical consents, medical histories, and insurance information.
- Billing and Payments: Verify patient insurance information and coordinate billing and payment processes with the finance department.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure the efficient allocation of operating theatre resources, including equipment and personnel.
- Surgical Lists: Prepare and distribute surgical lists to relevant teams, including nursing and anesthesia staff.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, relevant regulations, and privacy laws.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to scheduling changes and emergencies, rescheduling surgeries as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role in a healthcare setting is often preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures is beneficial.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
