Job Description:

The Inn at Bay Fortune, located in Canada, is currently seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and preparing a variety of delectable desserts and pastries, ensuring exceptional taste, presentation, and quality.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute creative and innovative dessert and pastry recipes, including cakes, pastries, cookies, and bread.
  2. Prepare and bake a wide range of desserts, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation according to established recipes.
  3. Decorate and garnish desserts to enhance their visual appeal, utilizing various techniques and artistic skills.
  4. Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious menu offerings and coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely production.
  5. Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels to ensure uninterrupted pastry production.
  6. Maintain a clean and organized pastry station, including proper storage and handling of ingredients, equipment, and tools.
  7. Train and supervise pastry assistants and other kitchen staff, providing guidance on techniques, recipes, and safety procedures.
  8. Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and ingredients to continually innovate and enhance pastry offerings.
  10. Collaborate with the serving staff to provide information and recommendations to guests regarding pastry options.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role is required.
  2. Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, baking principles, and dessert preparation.
  3. Creativity and passion for developing unique and visually appealing desserts.
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality pastry items.
  6. Leadership skills and the ability to effectively train and supervise staff.
  7. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  8. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  9. Culinary diploma or certification with a focus on pastry and baking is preferred but not mandatory.
