Job Description:
The Inn at Bay Fortune, located in Canada, is currently seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and preparing a variety of delectable desserts and pastries, ensuring exceptional taste, presentation, and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute creative and innovative dessert and pastry recipes, including cakes, pastries, cookies, and bread.
- Prepare and bake a wide range of desserts, ensuring consistency, taste, and presentation according to established recipes.
- Decorate and garnish desserts to enhance their visual appeal, utilizing various techniques and artistic skills.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious menu offerings and coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely production.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain stock levels to ensure uninterrupted pastry production.
- Maintain a clean and organized pastry station, including proper storage and handling of ingredients, equipment, and tools.
- Train and supervise pastry assistants and other kitchen staff, providing guidance on techniques, recipes, and safety procedures.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new techniques, and ingredients to continually innovate and enhance pastry offerings.
- Collaborate with the serving staff to provide information and recommendations to guests regarding pastry options.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role is required.
- Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, baking principles, and dessert preparation.
- Creativity and passion for developing unique and visually appealing desserts.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality pastry items.
- Leadership skills and the ability to effectively train and supervise staff.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Culinary diploma or certification with a focus on pastry and baking is preferred but not mandatory.
