Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Helper to join our team at Athabasca Motor Hotel 1972 Ltd. located in Canada. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play an integral role in supporting the kitchen staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our food service. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation Assistance:

   • Assist the kitchen staff in preparing ingredients, such as washing, peeling, and chopping fruits and vegetables.
   • Help in measuring and assembling ingredients according to recipes or as instructed by the chefs.
   • Prepare basic food items, such as salads, sandwiches, and soups.
   • Assist in plating and garnishing dishes to enhance their presentation.

2. Kitchen Maintenance and Cleaning:

   • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including sweeping and mopping floors, washing dishes, and cleaning countertops.
   • Ensure that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and tools are properly cleaned and stored.
   • Dispose of waste and recyclables in designated areas.
   • Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.

3. Stock Management:

   • Assist in receiving, organizing, and storing food supplies and ingredients.
   • Monitor inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, notifying the supervisor when items need to be replenished.
   • Ensure proper rotation of perishable items to minimize waste.

4. Customer Service:

   • Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure prompt and efficient service to customers.
   • Assist in delivering food orders to customers’ tables or designated areas.
   • Respond to customer inquiries and requests in a friendly and professional manner.
   • Maintain a clean and welcoming dining area for customers.

5. Adherence to Regulations:

   • Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies.
   • Follow guidelines for personal hygiene and uniform standards.
   • Adhere to food handling and storage procedures to maintain quality and prevent contamination.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness.
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
