Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Hospital Service Manager to join our team at Active Prospects in the UK. As the Hospital Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality care and support services to individuals with complex needs in a hospital setting. Your role will involve managing staff, coordinating service provision, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Service Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital service, ensuring the delivery of person-centered care and support.
    • Develop and implement service policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure effective and efficient service provision.
    • Monitor service performance, outcomes, and client satisfaction, implementing improvements as necessary.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the integration and coordination of services.
  2. Staff Management and Development:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of healthcare professionals and support staff.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and ongoing supervision to staff, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and provide opportunities for professional development.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning among the staff.
  3. Care Coordination and Planning:

    • Assess the individual needs and requirements of service users, developing and implementing comprehensive care plans.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and person-centered care delivery.
    • Monitor the implementation of care plans, ensuring that services are meeting the needs and goals of service users.
    • Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of care plans, making adjustments as required.
  4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Conduct audits and inspections to monitor the quality and safety of service provision.
    • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to address any deficiencies.
    • Collaborate with external agencies, such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC), to maintain regulatory compliance.
  5. Financial Management:

    • Manage the budget for the hospital service, ensuring effective utilization of resources and cost control.
    • Monitor financial performance, analyze expenditure, and implement strategies to achieve financial targets.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and monitor financial plans and forecasts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a managerial role within a healthcare or social care setting, preferably in a hospital or similar environment.
  • A professional qualification in health or social care management is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality standards, and best practices in healthcare service delivery.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, service users, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and software used in healthcare management.
  • Knowledge of person-centered approaches and a commitment to promoting independence and dignity for service users.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and participate in on-call duties as required.
