Key Responsibilities:
- Grounds Maintenance Tasks: Perform a range of grounds maintenance duties, including but not limited to mowing lawns, trimming hedges, pruning trees and shrubs, planting flowers and other vegetation, and maintaining flower beds and borders.
- Weed Control: Identify and remove weeds from gardens, pathways, and other landscaped areas. Apply appropriate weed control methods and products as required.
- Turf Care: Carry out turf care tasks, such as aerating, scarifying, fertilizing, and overseeding. Ensure that lawns are well-maintained, healthy, and free of debris.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and tools, such as lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and hand tools. Ensure equipment is cleaned, stored properly, and report any maintenance or repair needs.
- Waste Management: Collect and dispose of garden waste, litter, and debris in designated bins or containers. Keep the grounds clean and free from hazards.
- Seasonal Maintenance: Conduct seasonal maintenance tasks, such as leaf collection and snow clearing during autumn and winter. Prepare outdoor spaces for seasonal changes and events.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to health and safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
- Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with clients, addressing inquiries and concerns in a courteous and helpful manner. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude while working on-site.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related role is preferred.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance tasks, including lawn care, pruning, planting, and weed control.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills to follow instructions and interact with supervisors and colleagues.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations related to grounds maintenance.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.
