Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform maintenance and repair tasks on a range of horticultural and agricultural machinery and equipment, including but not limited to tractors, mowers, sprayers, harvesters, and other specialized machinery. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Service and Inspection: Conduct routine servicing and inspections of machinery to ensure optimal performance and identify any potential problems. Follow maintenance schedules and guidelines to maintain machinery in safe and efficient working condition.
- Parts Replacement: Identify and replace faulty or worn-out parts of machinery, ensuring the use of correct parts and following manufacturer specifications. Maintain an inventory of commonly used parts and request additional parts as needed.
- Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support to customers, both on-site and over the phone. Answer inquiries, address concerns, and provide guidance on machinery operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Documentation and Reporting: Complete accurate service reports, detailing the work carried out, parts used, and any additional recommendations or observations. Maintain records of customer interactions, equipment repairs, and service history.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies while carrying out service activities. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
- Customer Service: Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction by delivering prompt and effective service. Communicate professionally with customers, addressing their needs and providing clear explanations of work performed.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in horticultural machinery maintenance and repair. Seek opportunities for professional development and training to enhance technical skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience as a Horticultural Service Technician or a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of horticultural machinery, including tractors, mowers, sprayers, and harvesters.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with maintenance and repair techniques for horticultural machinery.
- Proficient diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to interact with customers and provide technical support.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow maintenance schedules and guidelines.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop or field service environment.
- A valid driver’s license is typically required for field service visits.
