Responsibilities:

1. Interpretation: Provide accurate and reliable interpretation services from Greek to English and vice versa in a range of settings, including meetings, appointments, conferences, and community events. Maintain confidentiality and impartiality while ensuring clear and accurate communication.
2. Cultural Mediation: Facilitate understanding between individuals from different cultural backgrounds, helping to bridge any cultural and linguistic gaps that may arise during the interpretation process.
3. Communication Support: Assist with the translation of written documents, such as letters, reports, or legal documents, ensuring that the meaning is accurately conveyed in both languages.
4. Professional Conduct: Adhere to the industry’s professional standards and code of ethics, maintaining impartiality, confidentiality, and neutrality throughout all interpretation assignments.
5. Preparation and Research: Familiarize yourself with relevant terminology and subject matters related to the assignments. Conduct any necessary research to ensure accurate interpretation and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-specific terminology.
6. Time Management: Manage your schedule efficiently, ensuring punctuality and reliability for all interpretation assignments. Coordinate with clients and agencies to confirm availability and confirm interpretation appointments.

Requirements:

• Fluency in both Greek and English languages, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
• Previous experience in interpreting or related language services is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in interpreting various subject matters, including legal, medical, social services, and business settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients and service users from diverse backgrounds.
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness, with the ability to mediate cultural differences effectively.
• Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality.
• Flexibility to work on an on-call basis, including evenings and weekends, to meet client needs.
• Access to reliable transportation or the ability to travel to different locations as required.
