Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of naval architects, providing technical guidance, support, and mentorship. Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  2. Naval Architecture Expertise: Utilize your deep understanding of naval architecture principles, including ship design, hydrodynamics, stability, structural integrity, and marine systems. Apply this knowledge to provide technical solutions, ensure compliance with regulations, and drive continuous improvement.
  3. Project Management: Oversee the delivery of marine engineering projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and operations, to ensure seamless project execution.
  4. Design and Analysis: Lead the design and analysis of naval architecture elements, such as hull forms, structural components, stability calculations, and performance assessments. Utilize advanced software and tools to support design decisions and optimize vessel performance.
  5. Technical Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, classification society rules, and regulatory requirements throughout the design and construction phases. Collaborate with regulatory bodies and ensure effective communication on technical matters.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with naval architecture aspects. Conduct risk assessments, develop risk mitigation strategies, and monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and classification societies. Collaborate effectively to align technical requirements, manage expectations, and deliver successful outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or a related engineering discipline. A higher-level degree or professional accreditation is advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in naval architecture, including ship design, hydrodynamics, stability, and marine systems.
  • Proven track record in managing and leading engineering teams, with strong leadership and people management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and classification society rules.
  • Proficiency in using naval architecture software, design tools, and analysis methods.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to solve complex problems and make sound engineering decisions.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance as required for specific projects.
