Job Summary:
Care UK Plc, a leading provider of health and social care services, is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Care Assistants. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to residents in our care homes. This position requires empathy, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting the well-being and independence of our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support to residents, assisting with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Support residents with mobility needs, using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Assist with feeding and ensure that residents’ nutritional needs are met, following dietary requirements and preferences.
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental health to the relevant healthcare professionals.
- Engage in meaningful interactions with residents, promoting socialization and mental stimulation.
- Support residents in maintaining their hobbies, interests, and personal routines as much as possible.
- Assist in creating a homely and welcoming environment for residents, ensuring their privacy, dignity, and well-being.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individual care plans for residents, following person-centered approaches.
- Participate in activities and outings with residents, encouraging their participation and enjoyment.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Care Assistant or in a similar care role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Genuine empathy and compassion for elderly or vulnerable individuals.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Understanding of person-centered care principles and a commitment to promoting residents’ independence and dignity.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations and infection control practices.
- Good observation skills and the ability to report changes in residents’ condition accurately.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and evenings, as care home services operate 24/7.
- Completion or willingness to complete mandatory training, such as Safeguarding and Manual Handling.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented care environment.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality care to enhance residents’ quality of life.
