Job Description:
As a Bank Health Care Assistant at NHS Jobs in the UK, you will play a vital role in providing essential support and care to patients within the National Health Service (NHS) on an as-needed basis. Your flexibility and availability will allow you to work on a temporary basis, covering shifts in various healthcare settings as per the staffing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist in delivering person-centered care to patients, promoting their physical and emotional well-being. This includes helping with personal hygiene, mobility, and activities of daily living.
- Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly measure and record patients’ vital signs, such as temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, and respiration rate. Report any significant changes to the healthcare team.
- Assisting with Clinical Procedures: Support registered healthcare professionals in various clinical procedures, including wound care, catheter care, and taking samples for laboratory testing.
- Observations and Documentation: Observe and report any changes in patients’ condition or behavior to the appropriate healthcare professionals. Accurately document all care provided and any observed changes.
- Patient Comfort and Safety: Ensure patients are comfortable and safe by assisting with positioning, transferring, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Implement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections.
- Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, their families, and the healthcare team. Provide updates and convey patients’ concerns or needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Patient Support: Offer emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Equipment and Supplies: Assist in the management and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies, ensuring their availability and proper functioning.
- Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Follow all relevant NHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the provision of safe and quality care.
- Continuous Learning: Engage in opportunities for professional development, including training programs and updates to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: Hold a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a relevant healthcare certification or diploma is desirable but not always mandatory, as on-the-job training may be provided.
