Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of poultry farm workers. Assign tasks, provide guidance, and ensure that all activities are performed efficiently and in accordance with farm protocols.
- Livestock Care: Monitor the health and welfare of poultry, including chickens and other fowl. Ensure proper feeding, watering, and housing conditions to maintain the well-being of the animals.
- Egg Collection and Handling: Oversee the collection of eggs from nesting areas and ensure proper handling and storage procedures are followed.
- Farm Operations: Coordinate and manage day-to-day farm operations, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and maintenance tasks.
- Biosecurity and Health Management: Implement and enforce biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases. Monitor poultry for signs of illness and collaborate with veterinarians as needed.
- Egg Grading and Packaging: Supervise the sorting and grading of eggs based on size and quality standards. Ensure eggs are packed appropriately for distribution.
- Facility Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and repair activities for farm facilities and equipment. Report any maintenance requirements to the farm management.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of farm activities, egg production, inventory, and any incidents. Prepare reports as required.
- Work Safety and Training: Enforce safety protocols and ensure that all team members are trained on safe work practices and the proper use of equipment.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that all processes and products meet the farm’s standards and regulations.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in poultry farming, with at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of poultry husbandry, care, and management practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide farm workers effectively.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and perform various farm tasks.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of biosecurity and safety protocols in a poultry farm setting.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high standards of animal welfare and farm operations.
- Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during peak seasons as required.
