Responsibilities:
- Crop Cultivation:
- Participate in planting, pruning, and caring for vegetable crops following established farming practices.
- Monitor crop health and growth, identifying and reporting any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Harvesting:
- Assist with the efficient and careful harvesting of vegetables to maintain product quality.
- Adhere to harvesting schedules and procedures to optimize crop yield and quality.
- Pest Control and Disease Management:
- Monitor crops regularly for signs of pests, diseases, or other issues that may impact crop health.
- Implement pest control and disease management strategies as directed by the farm supervisor.
- Greenhouse Operations:
- Operate and maintain greenhouse equipment and systems, including irrigation and climate control systems.
- Assist in greenhouse construction and maintenance projects as needed.
- Quality Control:
- Follow quality control guidelines to ensure only the best-quality vegetables are harvested and packaged for sale.
- Sort and pack vegetables based on size and quality standards.
- Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies to create a safe working environment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily farm activities, including planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
- Provide reports to the farm supervisor as necessary.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in vegetable farming or agriculture is an asset but not mandatory.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Willingness to obtain a work visa or possession of a valid work visa for employment in Canada.
