Kitchen Helper

Position Type: Full-Time
Visa Sponsorship: Available for qualified international applicants
Location: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Start Date: As soon as possible
Working Hours: 35 – 40 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent with opportunity for PR (Permanent Residency) pathway

Key Responsibilities

As a Kitchen Helper, your role will be essential to the smooth and efficient running of our kitchen. You will assist cooks and chefs in preparing meals, ensure cleanliness and hygiene, and maintain inventory levels.

Your day-to-day tasks may include:

Food Preparation Support

  • Washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits
  • Preparing basic ingredients for meals (e.g., mixing sauces, portioning meat)
  • Assisting in preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner items as directed by the head chef
  • Heating or reheating food when necessary
  • Assisting in sandwich and salad preparation

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Cleaning workstations, kitchen equipment, and utensils
  • Operating dishwashing machines or washing dishes manually
  • Ensuring kitchen hygiene standards are always met
  • Disposing of garbage and recycling appropriately

Inventory & Stock

  • Unpacking and storing supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas
  • Tracking inventory and notifying the supervisor of any shortages
  • Assisting in organizing and rotating stock (FIFO method)

Required Skills and Qualifications

✅ Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations
  • Good physical health and stamina (standing for long hours, lifting)
  • English language proficiency (basic verbal communication skills)
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

✅ Preferred (but not mandatory):

  • Prior experience in food service, restaurants, or hotels
  • Food handling certificate or hygiene training
  • Experience in cleaning or custodial work
  • Familiarity with kitchen safety protocols

Overtime PayTime and a half for hours beyond 44 per week

Work Schedule
