Responsibilities:

1. Safely and efficiently operate an HGV grab lorry, adhering to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
2. Carry out daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle’s safety and report any defects or issues.
3. Load, transport, and deliver materials to construction sites, using the grab arm or bucket to load and unload the vehicle.
4. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including the materials transported, quantities, and locations.
5. Comply with project schedules and deadlines, ensuring timely deliveries to support ongoing operations.
6. Coordinate with site supervisors and project managers to determine the materials needed and the appropriate delivery schedule.
7. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including the proper securing of loads and the use of personal protective equipment.
8. Communicate effectively with colleagues, site personnel, and clients to provide updates on delivery status and address any issues.
9. Maintain the cleanliness and general maintenance of the grab lorry, reporting any mechanical issues to the appropriate authorities.
10. Follow company policies and procedures, including completion of required paperwork and compliance with relevant regulations.

Requirements:

1. Valid HGV license (Category C) with a valid CPC qualification.
2. Previous experience as an HGV driver, particularly with grab lorries, is preferred.
3. Excellent driving skills, with a strong understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
4. Ability to operate the grab arm or bucket effectively and safely.
5. Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle defects or malfunctions.
6. Strong communication skills to interact professionally with colleagues, site personnel, and clients.
7. Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading of materials and operate the grab arm.
8. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings, depending on project requirements.
9. A responsible and reliable work ethic, with a commitment to safety and delivering excellent service.
10. A clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
