We are currently seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team and work in various establishments across the United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of commercial kitchens, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen area, including work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
- Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as required for cooking.
- Ensure proper storage of food items, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and utensils, following established procedures.
- Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes to maintain consistency and quality.
- Dispose of waste properly and manage recycling initiatives in the kitchen.
- Follow established recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries, verifying the quality and quantity of items.
- Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing techniques.
- Assist in maintaining inventory levels and notifying the kitchen management of any shortages.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment is desirable.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a standing position for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
