Job Description

We are currently seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our team and work in various establishments across the United Kingdom. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of commercial kitchens, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen area, including work surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
  2. Assist in food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
  3. Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients as required for cooking.
  4. Ensure proper storage of food items, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  5. Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, and utensils, following established procedures.
  6. Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes to maintain consistency and quality.
  7. Dispose of waste properly and manage recycling initiatives in the kitchen.
  8. Follow established recipes and portion sizes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  9. Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries, verifying the quality and quantity of items.
  10. Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards, including proper handwashing techniques.
  11. Assist in maintaining inventory levels and notifying the kitchen management of any shortages.
  12. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.
  13. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  14. Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant or similar role is preferred but not essential.
  2. Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment is desirable.
  3. Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  4. Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Physical stamina and the ability to work in a standing position for extended periods.
  7. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  8. Good communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
