Job Summary:

Allegra Care is currently seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Part-Time Activities Assistant. As an Activities Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning and coordinating engaging activities for our residents in care homes. Your responsibilities will include organizing social events, facilitating group activities, and providing individualized support to residents. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the well-being and quality of life of our residents.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in planning and organizing a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities for residents, considering their interests, abilities, and preferences.
  2. Facilitate group activities, such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and exercise classes, promoting socialization and engagement.
  3. Provide one-on-one support to residents who may require additional assistance or have specific needs.
  4. Encourage resident participation in activities, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
  5. Set up and maintain activity spaces, ensuring they are safe, organized, and appropriately equipped.
  6. Assist with arranging and coordinating outings and trips for residents, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
  7. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback regarding activities.
  8. Collaborate with the care team to identify and address the individual needs and preferences of residents in activity planning.
  9. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills related to activities for older adults.
  10. Adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain confidentiality and respect for residents’ privacy.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in organizing and facilitating activities for older adults is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided.
  2. Passion for working with older adults and promoting their well-being through engaging activities.
  3. Creative and resourceful mindset, with the ability to plan and implement a variety of activities.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with residents, families, and the care team.
  5. Enthusiasm and the ability to motivate and encourage resident participation.
  6. Reliable and responsible, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Flexible availability to work on a part-time basis, including evenings and weekends.
  8. Right to work in the United Kingdom.
  9. Basic computer skills for record-keeping purposes.
  10. Understanding of the importance of person-centered care and the ability to tailor activities to meet individual needs.
