Job Summary:
CDS Labour, a reputable agricultural staffing agency, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Farm Supervisor. As a Farm Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating farm operations to ensure efficiency and productivity. This position requires strong leadership skills, agricultural knowledge, and the ability to manage a team effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily farm activities, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, and equipment operation.
- Assign tasks and provide guidance to farm workers, ensuring proper execution of duties and adherence to established procedures.
- Monitor crop health, identify and address pest and disease issues, and implement appropriate control measures.
- Manage and maintain farm infrastructure, including irrigation systems, fences, and buildings.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment, coordinating repairs and servicing as needed.
- Implement and enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations and the well-being of workers.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of farm supplies, such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seed stock.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including crop yields, expenses, and worker attendance.
- Collaborate with farm owners, agronomists, and other stakeholders to develop and implement farm plans and strategies.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in agricultural practices and technologies, implementing relevant improvements on the farm.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a supervisory role on a farm or in a related agricultural setting is required.
- Strong knowledge of farming practices, including crop cultivation, pest control, irrigation, and equipment operation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in the agricultural industry.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment.
- Good organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including weekends and holidays, as farming demands require.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.
- A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be required, depending on the farm’s location.
