Job Summary:

Canterbury Oast Trust, a charitable organization supporting adults with learning disabilities, is currently seeking a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as a Farm and Attraction Worker. As a Farm and Attraction Worker, you will play a vital role in the operation and maintenance of our farm and visitor attraction. This position requires a passion for working with animals, a strong work ethic, and the ability to engage with visitors of all ages.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the care and welfare of farm animals, including feeding, cleaning, and providing enrichment activities.
2. Participate in animal husbandry tasks, such as grooming, hoof trimming, and health checks under supervision.
3. Support the maintenance of animal housing, enclosures, and outdoor areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
4. Engage with visitors, providing information about the farm, animals, and activities in a friendly and informative manner.
5. Assist in organizing and delivering educational programs and demonstrations for visitors, such as animal feeding sessions and guided tours.
6. Maintain cleanliness and organization in public areas, including barns, play areas, and pathways.
7. Contribute to the planning and preparation of seasonal events and activities, ensuring a memorable experience for visitors.
8. Support the farm team in horticultural tasks, such as planting, weeding, and harvesting, as required.
9. Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
10. Collaborate with other team members to ensure a positive visitor experience and the smooth operation of the farm and attraction.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience working with animals, particularly farm animals, is preferred but not mandatory.
2. Genuine passion for animal welfare and a desire to engage with visitors of all ages.
3. Basic knowledge of animal care and husbandry practices.
4. Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with visitors in a friendly and informative manner.
6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
7. Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during seasonal events.
8. Good organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
9. Willingness to undergo necessary background checks and clearance processes required for working with vulnerable adults.
10. A valid driver’s license may be beneficial, depending on the specific role requirements.
