The Organization of American States (OAS) Academic Scholarship Program was established in 1958 and provides a consistent source of funding for students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees as well as graduate research programs.

The OAS Special Caribbean Scholarships Program (SPECAF), established in 1983, offers OAS scholarships to citizens and residents of OAS Member States of the English-speaking Caribbean and Suriname for the final two years of undergraduate education.   • You must provide your grade transcripts for the highest academic degree you have earned.
  • You can send in your most recent transcript for the degree you are pursuing, such as a Bachelor’s, Graduate, or
  • Post Graduate degree, if you are currently in school.
  • Two letters of recommendation submitted via the OAS Recommendation Statement Form from your present or former professors are required.
  • Utilizing the Employer Recommendation Form, you can also submit recommendations from prior employers.
  • Any letter of recommendation from relatives or friends will not satisfy the eligibility requirements.
  • You must sign or stamp each letter of recommendation you submit.
  • It is vital to have a CV or resume, but it shouldn’t be longer than two pages.

How Do You Submit an OAS Scholarship Application?

All required documents must be scanned together into one file, ideally a PDF, and uploaded to your online application. The file size cannot exceed 8MB. The materials must be readable in order to avoid having your application rejected.

After you’ve completed your application and uploaded your supporting materials, the OAS will send you an email with a PDF of your application form. Make sure you are sending your application to one country and meeting the standards for that country.
