Key Responsibilities:

Each role on the farm comes with a set of responsibilities that contribute to the smooth operation and success of Kiwi Farms Ltd.. Below are the detailed responsibilities for each available position:

1. Farm Worker:

Assist with general farm operations, including planting, weeding, and harvesting crops.
Maintain farm equipment and machinery to ensure that it is in good working condition.
Assist with the maintenance of fences, buildings, and other infrastructure on the farm.
Work with livestock, ensuring they are fed, watered, and kept in clean and safe conditions.
Assist with the transportation of farm produce and goods to different areas as required.
Ensure farm safety protocols are followed, including the proper handling of equipment and safety gear.
Support other farm staff in day-to-day operations, providing help wherever necessary.

2. Dairy Farm Assistant:

Assist in the milking process, including operating milking machines and ensuring cows are milked properly.
Maintain the cleanliness of dairy equipment, including milk tanks, pipes, and machinery.
Feed and care for dairy cows, ensuring that their diet and health are monitored and maintained.
Assist with breeding programs and manage the calving process under the supervision of the farm manager.
Monitor cow health and report any signs of illness or distress to the veterinarian.
Help with the collection and disposal of waste products from the milking process.
Maintain accurate records of milk production, cow health, and other key performance indicators.

3. Livestock Handler:

Manage and handle livestock, including cows, sheep, goats, and other animals on the farm.
Feed animals and ensure they have access to fresh water.
Clean and maintain animal housing, ensuring that animals are kept in a hygienic and safe environment.
Assist with animal health checks and ensure that animals are free from disease.
Help with the transportation of livestock between different farm areas as needed.
Assist with livestock breeding and the management of newborn animals.
Work closely with the farm manager and veterinarian to ensure the well-being of all animals.

4. Horticulture Assistant:

Plant, tend, and harvest a variety of crops, including fruits, vegetables, and flowers, depending on the farm’s focus.
Monitor soil conditions and assist in applying fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments to crops.
Maintain irrigation systems, ensuring that crops receive adequate water throughout the growing season.
Assist with pruning, weeding, and thinning of plants to ensure optimal growth.
Prepare crops for sale or processing, ensuring they are cleaned and sorted as needed.
Help with the maintenance of greenhouses, crop storage areas, and equipment.
Work closely with the farm manager to plan crop rotations and maximize yield.

5. Farm Supervisor:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of farm workers and other staff members.
Ensure that farm operations run efficiently, and oversee the completion of tasks on time.
Train new employees and provide guidance to existing staff members.
Monitor the health and safety of all farm workers, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Assist in managing farm budgets, keeping track of expenses and supplies.
Ensure that farming activities are aligned with company standards and industry regulations.
Report to the farm manager on progress, challenges, and any operational issues.

6. Tractor Operator:

Operate tractors and other heavy machinery to plow fields, plant seeds, and harvest crops.
Assist with the transportation of materials and supplies across the farm using farm vehicles.
Perform routine maintenance on tractors and equipment, ensuring that machinery is functioning efficiently.
Ensure that all equipment is used safely and according to operational guidelines.
Help with field preparation, including soil cultivation and fertilization.
Assist with loading and unloading of crops and equipment as needed.
Follow all safety protocols and assist in maintaining farm safety.

7. Irrigation Technician:

Install and maintain irrigation systems for crops and pastures on the farm.
Monitor irrigation schedules and adjust as needed to ensure optimal water distribution.
Inspect irrigation systems for leaks, blockages, or other issues and repair them promptly.
Work with farm management to design irrigation solutions based on seasonal water needs.
Ensure that water usage is efficient and within the farm’s sustainability goals.
Maintain records of water usage and system performance.
Assist in implementing water conservation techniques to ensure the farm operates efficiently during dry periods.

8. General Farm Hand:

Assist with various tasks around the farm, including feeding livestock, collecting eggs, and cleaning animal pens.
Help with the cultivation and harvest of crops, ensuring that the land is properly prepared and maintained.
Maintain and repair farm equipment, tools, and machinery.
Assist with the transportation of goods and materials between different areas of the farm.
Help in the preparation and cleaning of storage areas for farm products and equipment.
Perform routine tasks such as checking the fences, gates, and farm buildings for damage.
Support the team with any special projects or additional farm-related work as needed.

9. Farm Manager:

Oversee the overall operations of the farm, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently.
Manage the day-to-day running of the farm, including staff management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Plan and implement farm schedules, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and to the required standard.
Monitor the financial performance of the farm, including managing costs and maximizing productivity.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
Work with external stakeholders such as suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Report to senior management or farm owners on farm performance and challenges.

10. Seasonal Harvest Worker:

Assist with the harvesting of crops during peak seasons, ensuring that all produce is picked, sorted, and stored properly.
Operate harvesting equipment and machinery as required, following safety protocols.
Work long hours during the harvest season, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time.
Assist with packing and preparing products for transportation to markets or distribution centers.
Monitor the quality of crops during the harvest process, reporting any issues to the farm supervisor.
Help with post-harvest processing, including cleaning and sorting produce for sale.
Assist with temporary storage of harvested products and ensure they are stored in suitable conditions.

Qualifications and Skills:

To succeed in these roles at Kiwi Farms Ltd., candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for most positions.
