Location & Work Environment

Most positions are based in Ashburton, a thriving farming district in the Canterbury region, known for its clean air, welcoming community, and beautiful landscapes. On-site accommodation is available for selected positions, and transportation may be provided for remote farm workers.

We are urgently hiring for the following farm positions. No prior experience? No problem—we will train you!

1. General Farm Worker

Duties:

Feed and care for dairy cows
Maintain clean cow sheds and milking areas
Assist in general farm duties including fencing and repairs

Requirements:

Good physical fitness
Willingness to learn and work outdoors
Ability to follow instructions

2. Milker

Duties:

Operate rotary or herringbone milking systems
Ensure cows are milked calmly and correctly
Clean equipment and maintain hygiene standards

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of milking preferred
Morning and evening shift availability
Careful handling of animals

3. Calf Rearer

Duties:

Bottle feed and monitor young calves
Maintain clean pens and record calf health
Prepare milk formula and bedding

Requirements:

Love for animals
Attention to hygiene
Early morning work required

4. Tractor Operator

Duties:

Drive tractors for feeding, irrigation, and mowing
Maintain machinery and perform safety checks
Assist in seasonal tasks like silage

Requirements:

Valid NZ tractor or international equivalent license
Mechanical aptitude
Safety-first mindset

5. Farm Maintenance Worker

Duties:

Repair fences, sheds, and irrigation lines
General upkeep of farm buildings
Use tools safely and efficiently

Requirements:

Basic handyman skills
Experience with tools
Attention to detail

6. Feeding Assistant

Duties:

Prepare and distribute feed for cows
Monitor feeding behavior and consumption
Clean feeding areas

Requirements:

Physically capable
Interest in animal nutrition
Punctuality

7. Farm Cleaner

Duties:

Pressure-wash equipment and cow sheds
Keep work areas sanitized
Help reduce biosecurity risks

Requirements:

Ability to use cleaning equipment
Hardworking attitude
Can work independently

8. Irrigation Assistant

Duties:

Monitor water supply and pump systems
Set up and move irrigators
Maintain irrigation equipment

Requirements:

Willing to work in variable weather
Quick problem-solving
Good with tools

9. Animal Health Assistant

Duties:

Assist in health checks, treatments, and vaccinations
Record health data for cows and calves
Observe for any signs of distress or illness

Requirements:

Passion for animal care
Ability to follow veterinary instructions
Some experience preferred but not mandatory

10. Night Watch Worker

Duties:

Monitor animals overnight
Assist with overnight calving
Security and emergency response

Requirements:

Night shift availability
Observant and reliable
Calm under pressure

Minimum Requirements for All Jobs

Must be 18 years or older
Must be able to lift up to 25 kg
Willing to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual
Willingness to learn new tasks and operate machinery
