We are currently seeking a Warehouse Assistant to join our team in Romford, Essex. Job Overview

As a Warehouse Assistant at the British Heart Foundation, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our warehouse. Your responsibilities will include sorting, processing, and organizing donated goods, as well as assisting with inventory management and logistics. Key Responsibilities

Sorting and Processing Donations

  • Sort through donated items, including clothing, furniture, books, and electronics, to identify those suitable for sale.
  • Prepare items for distribution to BHF retail stores or recycling centers.
  • Ensure all items are handled with care and in accordance with health and safety guidelines.

Inventory Management

  • Assist with the organization and storage of donated goods in the warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Support the replenishment of stock for retail stores as needed.

Logistics and Distribution

  • Load and unload delivery vehicles, ensuring items are securely packed and transported.
  • Assist with the coordination of deliveries to retail stores and other locations.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as trolleys and pallet trucks, safely and efficiently.

Customer Service

  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to donors and visitors at the warehouse.
  • Answer inquiries and provide information about the BHF’s mission and activities.
  • Ensure a positive experience for all individuals interacting with the warehouse.

Health and Safety

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any hazards or incidents to supervisors immediately.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other warehouse staff and volunteers to achieve daily targets.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Visa and Relocation Support

  • Assist international hires with visa applications, ensuring compliance with UK immigration requirements.
  • Coordinate relocation logistics, including temporary housing and cultural orientation.
  • Provide ongoing support to help new employees integrate into the team and community.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or retail environment is preferred but not essential.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy items.

Visa Eligibility:

Eligibility for a UK Skilled Worker Visa, with relevant qualifications and English language proficiency (IELTS/CEFR Level B1 or equivalent).
