Key Responsibilities:

Operate and drive tractor-trailers or straight-body trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances.
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules while adhering to federal and provincial driving regulations.
Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories (such as tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage).
Ensure cargo is secured properly and maintain accurate cargo documentation.
Maintain daily log books, inspection reports, and hours-of-service records using electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse staff to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
Ensure safety procedures and traffic laws are followed at all times.
Occasionally assist in loading/unloading cargo depending on the freight.
Perform basic maintenance tasks and report any mechanical issues.
Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure it is fueled and roadworthy.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is an asset but not mandatory.

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of truck driving experience (long haul preferred).
International applicants must have verifiable overseas driving experience with heavy vehicles or trucks.

Licences and Certifications:

A valid Class 1 or Class A driver’s license (depending on province).
Air Brake Endorsement (Z) required.
International applicants must be eligible to obtain a Canadian commercial driving license.

Language:

Basic proficiency in English to communicate with dispatch, complete reports, and read road signs and instructions.

Personal Suitability:

Comfortable working independently and making decisions on the road.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Physically fit—able to lift, bend, and handle extended sitting while driving.
Professional, reliable, and committed to safety.
Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as per delivery needs.

Work Conditions and Environment:

Work setting: Various routes across Alberta, Western and Eastern Canada, and cross-border U.S. routes.
Physically demanding – long hours of sitting, occasional lifting, and irregular schedules.
Outdoor weather exposure – must be prepared for various driving conditions including snow, rain, and heat.
Lodging and travel expenses covered by the company when required.
