Job Description
As a Truck Driver at True North Freight Solutions Inc., you will be responsible for transporting goods across various routes in Canada and the United States, depending on your assigned type (long haul, cross-border, or local).
You will operate fully maintained vehicles with GPS tracking, logbooks, and electronic systems for route tracking and fuel efficiency. We expect drivers to maintain strict safety standards, follow all transport regulations, and deliver shipments on time.
Key Responsibilities
Freight Transport & Delivery
- Operate tractor-trailers and heavy trucks to transport goods across provinces and/or the U.S. border
- Plan trip logistics and obtain necessary documentation for transportation
- Load and unload cargo as necessary (assistance provided when required)
Vehicle Operation & Maintenance
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems and equipment
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness, safety, and compliance with federal/provincial regulations
- Report any mechanical issues and schedule repairs as needed
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain logbooks and electronic logging device (ELD) systems accurately
- Follow company procedures and Canadian/U.S. transport laws
- Complete delivery documentation, fuel receipts, and maintenance logs
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate with dispatchers regarding route status, delays, and emergencies
- Coordinate with customers and warehouse teams for efficient delivery
- Provide exceptional customer service when delivering goods
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
- Valid Class 1/AZ Driver’s License (or international equivalent with willingness to convert)
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable truck driving experience
- Clean driving record (abstract required)
- Strong understanding of truck operations and basic mechanical knowledge
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
- Good communication skills in English (basic verbal and written)
Preferred:
- Experience with long-haul or cross-border trucking
- Familiarity with Canadian or U.S. highway regulations
- Experience operating reefer, flatbed, or dry van trailers
