Key Responsibilities:

Each position plays an important role in ensuring that Maple Leaf Supermarkets provides the best possible shopping experience for our customers. Below are the responsibilities for each of the job titles available:

1. Cashier:

  • Operate the cash register and handle all cash, card, and mobile payment transactions in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Greet customers as they approach the checkout counter and provide friendly, helpful service.
  • Bag items for customers, ensuring that fragile and perishable goods are properly packed.
  • Process returns and exchanges according to company policies.
  • Ensure the cash register is balanced at the end of each shift and report any discrepancies.
  • Assist customers with questions or concerns related to pricing, promotions, or store policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring all supplies (e.g., bags, receipt paper) are stocked and ready to use.

2. Customer Service Representative:

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with their inquiries, complaints, and requests in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Help customers locate items in the store and offer product recommendations when needed.
  • Handle customer returns and exchanges, ensuring all transactions comply with company policies.
  • Assist in resolving customer concerns or issues, escalating to a supervisor or manager if necessary.
  • Process customer orders for special requests, such as catering orders or bulk purchases.
  • Maintain a positive and approachable attitude to create a welcoming and pleasant shopping experience.
  • Support the store’s promotional activities and inform customers about ongoing sales or discounts.

3. Stock Clerk:

  • Receive and unload deliveries of products, checking for accuracy and quality.
  • Stock shelves, ensuring that products are neatly organized and clearly labeled with prices.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in restocking shelves when products are running low.
  • Organize backroom storage to ensure products are stored in a clean and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all products are stored at the appropriate temperature to maintain freshness and quality (especially for perishable items).
  • Keep track of expiration dates and remove expired or damaged items from the shelves.
  • Assist customers by retrieving products from the backroom or high shelves when needed.

4. Grocery Department Associate:

  • Organize and stock shelves with dry goods, canned goods, and other non-perishable products.
  • Ensure that the grocery aisles are clean, well-maintained, and free of clutter.
  • Assist customers in finding the products they need, offering recommendations when necessary.
  • Maintain proper product rotation, ensuring that older products are placed in the front and newer products are stocked behind.
  • Assist with inventory management, conducting stock counts and reporting discrepancies.
  • Keep the department clean, including sweeping floors, wiping shelves, and removing any waste.
  • Assist in setting up displays and organizing promotional events within the grocery section.

5. Meat Cutter:

  • Prepare and cut meats, poultry, and fish to meet customer needs and store requirements.
  • Ensure that all meat products are prepared in accordance with food safety standards and company guidelines.
  • Handle and store meat products at the correct temperatures to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
  • Ensure that all displays are attractive and well-stocked, rotating products to maintain freshness.
  • Assist customers by offering recommendations, cutting meat to their desired specifications, and answering questions.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, regularly cleaning equipment and surfaces.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and company policies related to handling and cutting meat.

6. Produce Associate:

  • Organize and stock fresh fruits and vegetables, ensuring that products are presented attractively and at the correct temperature.
  • Monitor the freshness of produce and remove any damaged or overripe items from the shelves.
  • Assist customers with produce selections, offering advice on how to store, prepare, or cook specific items.
  • Ensure proper labeling of produce, including country of origin and price.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the produce department, ensuring that all surfaces are sanitized regularly.
  • Assist with inventory control by tracking stock levels and notifying the supervisor of low stock or out-of-stock items.
  • Support promotional events and special displays in the produce section.

7. Bakery Associate:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of fresh bakery products, including bread, pastries, cakes, and cookies.
  • Decorate cakes and other baked goods to meet customer specifications and company standards.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the bakery area.
  • Assist customers by taking custom orders for cakes or baked goods and offering product recommendations.
  • Ensure that bakery displays are well-organized, clean, and stocked with fresh items.
  • Follow production schedules to ensure timely preparation of baked goods for sale.
  • Monitor inventory levels for baking ingredients and supplies, notifying management of the need to reorder items.

8. Store Manager:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the store, ensuring efficient and smooth functioning across all departments.
  • Supervise and lead a team of employees, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance.
  • Manage store budgets, ensuring that expenses are controlled and sales targets are met.
  • Monitor and maintain store inventory, conducting regular stock counts and reordering products when necessary.
  • Handle customer complaints and issues, ensuring that all concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to drive sales and attract customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and labor regulations in the store.

9. Inventory Control Specialist:

  • Track and manage inventory levels to ensure that all products are available for customers and stock is rotated correctly.
  • Perform regular stock counts and reconcile any discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the procurement team to manage product orders and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and make recommendations for inventory adjustments.
  • Work with the store manager to implement stock management strategies that reduce waste and optimize inventory levels.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, ensuring that they are accessible and organized.
  • Assist in the handling and storage of perishable items, ensuring that products are kept within the required temperature range.

10. Security Officer:

  • Monitor and patrol store premises to ensure the safety and security of employees, customers, and products.
  • Observe and report any suspicious behavior or security breaches, taking action as necessary.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies, coordinating with local law enforcement and emergency services when needed.
  • Ensure that all store entry and exit points are secure, preventing unauthorized access.
  • Conduct security checks of delivery vehicles, personnel, and customers to prevent theft or fraud.
  • Maintain records of security-related incidents and report them to management.
  • Provide assistance to staff and customers in case of emergencies or safety-related incidents.

Qualifications and Skills:

To succeed in these roles at Maple Leaf Supermarkets, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for most roles.
