Position Overview:
W Doha Hotel & Residences is seeking a talented and experienced individual to join our culinary team as the Sous Chef. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee and manage the kitchen operations. Your culinary expertise, leadership skills, and attention to detail will contribute to the exceptional dining experiences offered at W Doha. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and organizing kitchen operations, including menu development, production, and presentation.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative and visually appealing dishes, ensuring high-quality cuisine and taste.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, providing guidance, support, and ongoing development opportunities.
- Oversee food preparation, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes, portion control, and food quality standards.
- Monitor and control food costs, including inventory management, wastage reduction, and budget control.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment, following health and safety regulations.
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and the creation of specials and promotions.
- Implement and enforce food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as food and beverage, banquets, and events, to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging techniques, and new ingredients, incorporating them into culinary creations.
- Analyze financial reports, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to achieve cost and revenue targets.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of kitchen staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant is required.
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques.
- Excellent leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations and practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, displaying excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per business needs.
- Proficiency in culinary software applications and computer systems.
- Certification in food safety and sanitation is preferred.
- Knowledge of local market trends, preferences, and regulations is an advantage.
