Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Preparation:
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and preparing high-quality and nutritious meals for residents, taking into account individual dietary needs and preferences.
- Oversee food preparation and cooking to ensure meals are served to the highest standards.
- Menu Development:
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create innovative and diverse menus that meet residents’ nutritional requirements and taste preferences.
- Consider seasonal produce and resident feedback in menu planning.
- Food Presentation:
- Ensure that all dishes are presented attractively and in line with the established standards.
- Pay attention to detail in food plating and garnishing.
- Kitchen Management:
- Supervise kitchen staff and provide guidance and support in culinary techniques and food safety practices.
- Assist in managing kitchen inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining a well-organized kitchen environment.
- Health and Safety:
- Comply with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Train and instruct kitchen staff on proper food handling and safety procedures.
- Resident Interaction:
- Interact with residents and consider their feedback to continually improve the dining experience.
- Be responsive to individual dietary requests and food preferences.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role.
- NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Professional Cookery or equivalent culinary qualifications.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques and cuisines.
- Creativity and the ability to develop innovative and appealing menus.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively lead kitchen staff.
- A passion for food and a commitment to providing high-quality meals to residents.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
