As a Retail Sales Assistant at Waterfields Bakers, you will be an essential member of our team, providing exceptional customer service and contributing to the success of our bakery stores in the UK. Your role will involve assisting customers, taking orders, handling transactions, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance. Help customers in selecting bakery items, provide information about products, and offer suggestions based on their preferences.
2. Order Management: Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring all specifications are noted and recorded correctly. Process orders promptly and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
3. Cash Handling: Operate cash registers, handle cash transactions, and process payments accurately. Adhere to cash handling procedures, including opening and closing cash registers, and reconcile cash at the end of the shift.
4. Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of our bakery products, including ingredients, flavors, and allergen information. Stay updated on new products, promotions, and seasonal offerings to assist customers effectively.
5. Stock Management: Maintain product displays, ensuring shelves are fully stocked, clean, and well-presented. Monitor stock levels and communicate with the bakery team to restock products as needed. Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and product expiration checks.
6. Customer Queries and Complaints: Address customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a friendly and efficient manner. Resolve issues promptly, aiming to exceed customer expectations and ensure their satisfaction.
7. Store Maintenance: Keep the store clean, tidy, and organized at all times. Monitor and replenish supplies, such as bags, napkins, and condiments. Assist in daily cleaning tasks to maintain a hygienic and inviting environment.
8. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth store operations. Assist colleagues when needed and maintain open communication to foster a positive and supportive work environment.
9. Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety guidelines and practices to ensure a safe environment for both customers and staff. Follow proper food handling and hygiene protocols to maintain the quality and freshness of our products.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a customer service or retail role, preferably in the food industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
• Basic math skills and proficiency in operating cash registers.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is a plus.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the store’s operating hours.
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move bakery items when required.
