Job Description

Athabasca Motor Hotel 1972 Ltd. is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Supervisor to join our team in Canada. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service department. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations, supervising the staff, maintaining quality and hygiene standards, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Supervision and Leadership:

    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the food service staff, including cooks, kitchen helpers, and servers.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to standards.
    • Schedule and assign work shifts, ensuring adequate coverage and optimal utilization of resources.
    • Motivate and inspire the team to maintain high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
  2. Customer Service and Satisfaction:

    • Foster a customer-centric environment by providing friendly and efficient service to guests.
    • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
    • Ensure that all food service activities meet or exceed guest expectations and established quality standards.
    • Collaborate with the kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth communication and efficient service delivery.
  3. Operational Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the food service department, including opening and closing procedures.
    • Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, placing orders as needed to maintain adequate stock.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene practices.
    • Conduct regular quality checks on food products, presentation, and service standards.
  4. Training and Development:

    • Train new hires on food service procedures, customer service, and safety protocols.
    • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to enhance the skills and knowledge of the food service staff.
    • Promote teamwork, effective communication, and a positive work environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees, recognizing achievements and addressing areas for improvement.
  5. Administrative Tasks:

    • Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and employee schedules.
    • Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to maximize efficiency and profitability.
    • Prepare reports, including sales analysis, customer feedback, and staff performance.
    • Collaborate with management in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role in the food service industry is required.
  • Strong knowledge of food service operations, including cooking techniques, menu planning, and customer service.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and food handling practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
