Responsibilities:
- Crop Cultivation:
- Assist with planting, pruning, and caring for blueberry plants according to established agricultural practices.
- Monitor crop health and growth, identifying any signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Harvesting:
- Participate in the harvesting of ripe blueberries, ensuring efficient and careful handling to maintain product quality.
- Adhere to harvesting schedules and procedures to optimize yield.
- Irrigation and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems to provide adequate water supply to blueberry crops.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as repairing fences and ensuring farm equipment is in good working condition.
- Quality Control:
- Follow quality control guidelines to ensure only the best-quality blueberries are harvested and packaged for sale.
- Sort and pack blueberries based on size and quality standards.
- Health and Safety:
- Comply with all health and safety regulations on the farm to create a safe working environment for yourself and fellow workers.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of daily farm activities, including planting, harvesting, and crop maintenance.
- Provide reports to the farm supervisor as needed.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in agriculture or farming is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks, including bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Possession of a valid work visa or willingness to obtain one for employment in Canada.
