Job Summary:
Maria Mallaband Care Group is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to our residents. As a Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and independence of our residents while upholding the highest standards of care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging in meaningful interactions and promoting socialization.
- Support residents in maintaining a clean and safe environment, including tidying rooms, making beds, and organizing personal belongings.
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental health conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Assist with medication administration, as directed and in accordance with established protocols.
- Follow care plans and individualized resident support plans, ensuring the provision of person-centered care.
- Encourage and support residents’ participation in recreational activities and outings.
- Collaborate with the care team, including nurses and therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for residents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided and resident observations.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and the organization’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Care Assistant, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is desirable but not essential.
- Compassionate nature and genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and their families.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Empathy, patience, and understanding in dealing with the challenges faced by residents.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to respond appropriately to residents’ needs.
- Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development as required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting resident safety and well-being.
