Job Summary:

Maria Mallaband Care Group is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to join our team in providing high-quality care and support to our residents. As a Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and independence of our residents while upholding the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  2. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging in meaningful interactions and promoting socialization.
  3. Support residents in maintaining a clean and safe environment, including tidying rooms, making beds, and organizing personal belongings.
  4. Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental health conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  5. Assist with medication administration, as directed and in accordance with established protocols.
  6. Follow care plans and individualized resident support plans, ensuring the provision of person-centered care.
  7. Encourage and support residents’ participation in recreational activities and outings.
  8. Collaborate with the care team, including nurses and therapists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for residents.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of care provided and resident observations.
  10. Adhere to health and safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and the organization’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience as a Care Assistant, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting.
  2. NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) is desirable but not essential.
  3. Compassionate nature and genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents and their families.
  5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Empathy, patience, and understanding in dealing with the challenges faced by residents.
  7. Strong observational skills and the ability to respond appropriately to residents’ needs.
  8. Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development as required.
  9. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  10. Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting resident safety and well-being.
