Job Overview:

As a Mental Health Nurse in the UK, your role will be to deliver person-centered care to patients experiencing acute or chronic mental health conditions. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll play a critical part in promoting recovery, reducing stigma, and improving the overall mental well-being of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the mental health needs of patients using psychiatric evaluations, care plans, and diagnostic tools.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient response and side effects.
  • Provide individual and group therapeutic interventions, including CBT techniques and de-escalation methods.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Record and maintain accurate, up-to-date patient notes in compliance with UK standards.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and support workers to coordinate care.
  • Manage challenging behaviors and provide crisis intervention when required.
  • Educate patients and families about mental health management, coping strategies, and medication adherence.
  • Contribute to safeguarding vulnerable individuals in both inpatient and community settings.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognized degree or diploma in mental health nursing (Bachelor’s or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in mental health or psychiatric care
  • Eligibility for Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration in the UK
  • English Language Proficiency (IELTS Academic with a minimum score of 7.0 in reading, speaking, and listening, and 6.5 in writing; or OET Grade B)
  • Empathy, emotional resilience, and excellent communication skills
  • A genuine interest in helping individuals with mental health challenges
  • Willingness to relocate to the UK and commit to long-term service

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Completion of CBT, DBT, or trauma-informed care training
  • Previous experience in forensic, adolescent, or substance misuse settings
  • Experience in community-based mental health nursing
  • Mental health first aid certification
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
