Responsibilities:
- Electrical Installations: Carry out electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks in accordance with relevant regulations and standards. This includes installing and connecting wiring, electrical fixtures, appliances, and equipment.
- Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Identify electrical faults and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner. Conduct thorough inspections, testing, and diagnostic procedures to determine the cause of malfunctions and implement effective repair solutions.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to electrical safety standards and regulations to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines. Perform routine checks and inspections to identify potential hazards, electrical risks, or non-compliance issues.
- Maintenance and Upgrades: Perform regular preventive maintenance activities to ensure the proper functioning of electrical systems and equipment. Assist in planning and executing electrical upgrades, modifications, and improvements to meet changing needs and technological advancements.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, including maintenance activities, repairs, and installations. Complete relevant paperwork, reports, and documentation promptly and efficiently.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other team members, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate work schedules, share information, and ensure effective communication. Provide guidance and support to apprentices or less experienced staff members as required.
- Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated with industry developments, best practices, and advancements in electrical systems and technology. Engage in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Requirements:
- Recognized electrical qualification (e.g., City and Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Proven experience as an Electrician, preferably in a commercial or public sector environment.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671).
- Competency in fault finding, testing, and diagnosing electrical issues.
- Familiarity with electrical installation methods and practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A commitment to working safely and following health and safety procedures.
