Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Sodexo Ltd in the United Kingdom. As a Second Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure the smooth operation of our food service operations. You will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking meals according to menu specifications and dietary requirements.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service.
- Follow established recipes and portion control guidelines to maintain consistency and quality.
- Monitor food stock levels and notify the Head Chef of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
- Assist with menu planning, taking into account customer preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and culinary creations.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Second Chef or similar role in a high-volume food service establishment.
- Proficient knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary trends.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are desirable but not essential.
