Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable Cold Store Operative to join our team in the United Kingdom. As a Cold Store Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of goods within our cold storage facility. Your role will involve receiving, storing, and dispatching products while adhering to strict health and safety guidelines. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a similar environment, possess excellent attention to detail, and be comfortable working in cold temperatures.

Responsibilities:

1. Receive incoming goods and verify their quantity and quality against delivery documents.
2. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move goods within the cold store.
3. Ensure proper storage and organization of products, taking into account temperature requirements and stock rotation principles.
4. Monitor and record temperature and humidity levels within the cold store, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
5. Conduct regular stock checks and update inventory records using computerized systems.
6. Pick and pack orders accurately, ensuring products are properly labeled and prepared for dispatch.
7. Load and unload delivery vehicles, following loading procedures and securing goods to prevent damage during transit.
8. Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
9. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the cold store, including regular cleaning and disinfection of equipment and storage areas.
10. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

1. Previous experience working in a cold storage or warehouse environment is preferred.
2. Valid forklift operator certification is desirable.
3. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately record information and conduct stock checks.
4. Physical fitness and the ability to lift and move heavy loads.
5. Comfortable working in cold temperatures for extended periods.
6. Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to cold storage operations.
7. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
8. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
9. Basic computer literacy for inventory management and record keeping.
10. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
