Job Summary:
Cats Protection, a renowned animal welfare organization, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Rehoming and Welfare Assistant. As a Rehoming and Welfare Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the welfare and successful rehoming of cats under our care. Your primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality care, support adoption processes, and promote responsible pet ownership. Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent care for cats in our rehoming center, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met
- Assist with the intake, assessment, and preparation of cats for rehoming, including vaccinations, microchipping, and veterinary visits
- Conduct thorough and compassionate home visits to assess the suitability of potential adopters and provide guidance on responsible pet ownership
- Facilitate the adoption process, including conducting interviews, matching cats with suitable homes, and completing adoption paperwork
- Provide post-adoption support and advice to adopters, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise
- Maintain accurate records of cat profiles, adoption processes, and other relevant information using our database systems
- Assist with the promotion of cats available for adoption through various channels, including social media, websites, and community outreach events
- Collaborate with volunteers and colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the rehoming center and the well-being of cats in our care
- Assist with the management of the rehoming center facilities, including cleaning, organizing supplies, and maintaining a safe environment
- Adhere to Cats Protection’s policies, procedures, and animal welfare standards at all times
- Stay informed about current animal welfare legislation and best practices in cat care and share this knowledge with colleagues and adopters
Requirements:
- Genuine passion for animal welfare, particularly the well-being of cats
- Previous experience working or volunteering in an animal welfare environment is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and the public
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and compassion
- Basic knowledge of cat behavior, health, and welfare requirements
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping
- Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings as required for events and cat care responsibilities
- A driving license and access to a vehicle is advantageous for home visits
